Anonymous people counting, processed on the camera

Vicodis is a people counting system for Axis cameras: delivered complete with a new camera, or installed as a people counter for Axis cameras you already have. Anonymous people counting, processed on the edge — no faces, no images, nothing sent anywhere.

  • A visitor counting system for entrances
  • People counting on the camera — no cloud
  • Live occupancy, history and exportable reports
  • As a complete kit with a new camera, or on your own

How it works

Counting happens on the camera.

Vicodis runs on AXIS Object Analytics inside the Axis device. No video ever leaves the building, only finished counts — see people counting without cloud, server or internet.

01

Detect

The camera detects people and vehicles with its built-in deep-learning unit.

02

Count

A virtual line at the entrance counts entries and exits by direction.

03

Keep local

Counts stay inside your network. No cloud account, no internet required.

04

Analyse

The dashboard shows occupancy, trends and reports as PDF or CSV.

Privacy by design

Anonymous by architecture, not by setting.

Nothing has to be switched on or configured for the system to stay anonymous — there is no image and no identity anywhere in the chain.

Counts everyone, identifies no one.

Built for environments with strict data-protection requirements — public authorities, libraries, schools. Personal data is never created in the first place; the reasoning is set out on people counting and the GDPR.

  • No facial recognition. No age, no gender, no biometrics.
  • Counts only. No images of people are stored or transmitted.
  • Fully local. Processed on the camera — no cloud service, no third parties.
  • No licence plate capture. Vehicles are counted, never identified.
  • Your data. Everything stays on your premises and can be deleted at any time on request, with a one-time key from us.
Compatibility

Supported Axis cameras.

If the camera has a DLPU and runs AXIS Object Analytics, it can run Vicodis — including the cameras already on your wall.

✓ Runs on your Axis camera

No extra hardware, no server.

Vicodis is a people counter for Axis cameras and runs on every Axis camera with a deep-learning processing unit (DLPU) that supports AXIS Object Analytics — the ARTPEC-9, ARTPEC-8 and CV25 platforms. There is no separate model approval list. ARTPEC-9 is the preferred generation, which is why both PRO camera kits use the AXIS P3275 range.

FAQ

Questions we are asked most often.

01

Does Vicodis need a server or a cloud account?

No. All detection and counting happens inside the Axis camera itself. Vicodis needs no server, no gateway, no cloud account and no outbound connection, so it also works on sites where the network is closed. The counts stay on your premises and you pull them out by export or API.

02

Which Axis cameras are supported?

Every Axis camera with a deep-learning processing unit that supports AXIS Object Analytics — the ARTPEC-9, ARTPEC-8 and CV25 platforms. There is no separate model approval list. ARTPEC-9 is the preferred generation, which is why both PRO kits use the AXIS P3275 range. Send us your model and we check it free of charge.

03

Is it GDPR-compliant?

Yes, because no personal data is created in the first place. The camera evaluates the image internally and outputs counts only — no faces, no images and no video leave the device, and nothing is stored that could identify a person. Our GDPR page sets out the legal reasoning in detail.

04

What decides how well the camera counts?

Four things: the mounting height, the lens angle of view, the width of the doorway and the lighting conditions. A camera mounted from 2.50 metres upwards, aimed at the door with the counting line drawn close to the frame, covers a normal entrance. We go through the setup with you beforehand.

05

How is Vicodis licensed?

One permanent licence per camera, bound to that camera’s MAC address and signed against tampering. You pay once and keep using it — there is no subscription, no renewal and no cloud fee. Zone and Vehicle are add-on licences on top of the base system. All figures are on the pricing page.

06

Can I get the data out and into my own systems?

Yes. Counts and live occupancy are available as PDF and CSV reports for any period, and as live endpoints your own dashboards or entrance signage can read. Vicodis can also send scheduled reports through your own SMTP server rather than ours, so nothing is routed via us.

How many visitors does your entrance really have?

Tell us your camera model or your project — we check compatibility and come back with a concrete proposal.
